認知社會交流途徑的兩個例子是社會溝通、情緒調解和交流支持模式(Social-communication, Emotional regulation, and Transactional Support Model,簡稱SCERTS),和反應性教育與語言前自然環境教學(Responsive Education and Prelinguistic Milieu Teaching, 簡稱RPMT)。兩者的主要社交同伴都須對孩童的溝通行為及時反應才有效。認知交流途徑跟隨孩童的注意和遊戲引導,參考發展階段以循序習得能力,並嘗試建立類似遊戲且輪流的常規。
